Natural resources and harvesting volumes

GFMA area is 388.9 thousan hectares. Operation forest stands encompass 288661 hectares and their overall volume of wood is 27.8 mill. cu. m, of which 21.2 mill.cu.m are in mature forests. In addition, protected forests (nut-producing and watershed zones) encompass 94734 hectares with the volume of wood 18.6 mill. cu. m. The rest area is the agricultural land. The allowable (biological) cut is 197.7 thousand cu. m per year. Actually harvested cut in 1998th is 58 thousand cu. m, at a maximum value 120 thousand cu. m 1996th.

Actual harvests of other (non-wood) natural resources in 1998 (very close to the 5 years’average) are:

Birch sap 42 t (5 % of biological harvest)
Fern (feedle heads) 26 t (10 % of biological harvest)
Fish (salmon and others) 80 t (50 % of biological harvest)
Sable 1300 pcs. (80 % of biological harvest)
Honey 3,8 t (10 % of biological harvest)
Cranberries and other 7,3 t (5 % of biological harvest)
In addition, the industrial (commercial) harvesting of cedar-pine nuts, mushrooms, eleutorokokk roots, other medicinal plants is possible.
